Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I am thinking of purchasing an Ontario Deck Railing railing system. Where do I start?
A: To obtain a quote, you can either make an appointment to come by our office in London, Ontario, with a drawing of your deck with outside deck framing dimensions, upload your drawing on our Request A Quote page, or email us at [email protected] and we will get back to you within 2-3 business days.
Q: Do you provide an on-site free quote?
A: No, we do not. Truthfully, no business is able to provide an on-site free quote without tacking on the cost to the customer. The cost of time and personnel are often built into your quote, making it much costlier for you. At Ontario Deck Railing, we give the best price at the very get go and do not see it as advantageous to come out for every quote. This is why we ask customers to give us photos and measurements with a sketch. Where necessary, we will price the site visit in the quote for more complex projects.
Q: Do the railing systems meet the Ontario Building Code?
A: Yes, all of our railing systems meet the Ontario Building Code. They are all fully engineered and tested and are approved for use in the city of London, Ontario.
Q: I want to make a drawing of my deck with outside dimensions. What details do you need for a Request A Quote?
A: Please measure each perimeter deck framing run and indicate any openings as well as abutting structures. If you have stairs that require railings, measure the overall width of the stair, the vertical rise between each tread, the tread depth, and the number of stair risers from the lowest level to the top of the deck level. Be sure to also indicate if you require railings down both sides of the stair or just one side. Please make all measurements to the nearest 1/2 inch.
Q: What tools or materials are needed to install an Ontario Deck Railing railing system?
A: Our railing systems come complete including all hardware and fasteners. All you need are some basic hand tools such as tape measure, level, drill and related bits, and a chop saw with a non-ferrous metal blade. This gives you a no hassle purchase.
Q: What is your current warranty policy?
A: Our warranty policy for DekSmart's railing systems is here. For our previous clients who purchased Home-Rail's railings from us, the warranty policy is here.
Q: How long will it take for my order to be ready for pick up?
A: If all the parts to fulfil your order are in stock, it would only take 3 - 5 business days for the order to be ready for pick up. For Special Order railings, they take from 4 - 7 weeks upon receipt of deposit. If your order is for glass railings, it can take up to 3-4 weeks for the glass to be delivered to us. We will contact you when everything is ready for pick up.
Q: I would like to purchase supply only from ODR. Do you provide a delivery service?
