Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I am thinking of purchasing an Ontario Deck Railing railing system. Where do I start?
A: To obtain an estimate, you can either drop by our office in London, Ontario, with a drawing of your deck with outside deck framing dimensions or upload your drawing on our Request An Estimate page.

Q: Do the railing systems meet the Ontario Building Code?
A: Yes, all of our railing systems meet the Ontario Building Code. They are all fully engineered and tested.

Q: I want to make a drawing of my deck with outside dimensions. What details do you need for a Request An Estimate?
A: Please measure each perimeter deck framing run and indicate any openings as well as abutting structures. If you have stairs that require railings, measure the overall width of the stair, the vertical rise between each tread, and the number of stair tread rises from the lowest level to the top of the deck level. Be sure to also indicate if you require railings down both sides of the stair stringers or just one side. Please make all measurements to the nearest inch.

Q: What tools or materials are needed to install an Ontario Deck Railing railing system?
A: Our railing systems come complete including all hardware and fasteners. As noted in our installation manual, all you need are some basic hand tools such as tape measure, level, drill and related bits, and a chop saw with a non-ferrous blade. This gives you a no hassle purchase.

Q: How long will the aluminum deck railing system last?
A: For our aluminum railing products (does not include the new frameless glass railing system), we provide a limited warranty  under normal use that they will be free from structural defects for 10 years and the powder coating finish will not crack, peel, flake or blister for 25 years. Register for your warranty here.

Q: How long will it take for my order to be ready?
A: If all the parts to fulfill your order are in stock, it would only take 3 - 5 business days for the order to be ready for pick up. For special order railings, they take about 5 business days upon receipt of deposit. If your order is for glass railings, add about 1.5 weeks to that. We will contact you when everything is ready for completion.

Q: I would like to purchase supply only from ODR. Do you provide a delivery service?
A: It all depends on your location. We can ship to you either by a courier service or through a shipping company to save all parties on delivery costs and have safely shipped to Nova Scotia.

Q: Is it easy to install the railing system?
A: Our railing system was designed for easy Do-It-Yourself. If your handyman skills are at an intermediate level, you will be able to install our system easily. We provide a manual as installation guide.

Q: If I would not like to do installation myself, do you provide installation services?
A: Yes, we do. Please give an indication on the order form and we will try our best to work with your needs.

Q: What designs do you have for your railing system?
A: Please go to our Products Guide page where we have an exhaustive list of options for you to choose from.

Q: Are gates available?
A: Yes, our gates are available in 48" wide x 42" high and can be cut down to the desired size. The gates are available in picket or glass.
